About our 3-Year-Olds Preschool

Ready to enroll your child in preschool? We at Star Choice Academy are committed to giving your child the best preschool education possible. Your preschooler will have the physical, emotional, technical, and cognitive foundation they need to succeed in school and life. We are community-based care, committed to health and safety of our students. Your three-year-old will develop each day through our preschool program and educational games. Our classrooms are created with your child’s unique needs and security in mind.

Strict health and safety regulations will be observed.

You can relax knowing that your little preschooler is in a safe and healthy environment while they’re at our Academy. Based on CDC recommendations, our improved health and cleaning program is intended to reduce coronavirus transmission.

Cognitive Development

  • Complete puzzles with three or four pieces.
  • Able to draw or copy circles, lines and some other shapes with crayon or pencil.
  • Use imagination to play make-believe and create stories with dolls, toys, animals and people.
  • Match and sort objects by shape and color.
  • Able to work toys with buttons, levers and moving parts, (i.e.: toy cars, robots, singing toys).
  • Knows what “two” means and can count up to 10.
  • Turns pages one at a time and can identify common colors and objects.
  • Can open and unopen jar lids and turn door handles.

Communication and Language Development

- Uses three-word sentences and can progresses to four- to five-word sentences.
- Can carry on a conversation and understands words such as “in,” “on” and “under.”
- Talks clearly enough to usually be understood by adults.
- Can understand and follows two- or three-part instructions.
- Able to use about 500 to 900 words like “I,” “me,” “you,” and “we” and uses some plurals.
- Says their full name, age and gender.
- Able to ask questions beginning with “why,” “where,” “what,” “when” and “how”.
- Can remember and say the names of friends.

Social and Emotional Development

- Shows care, concern, and affection for others without being prompted to do so.
- Mimic adults and friends’ behavior and facial expressions, i.e.: runs when other children are running.
- Take turns while playing games and able to dresses and undresses themself.
- Able to separate easily from parents and shows a range of feelings.
- Enjoys routines and may get upset with a major change.
- Fine joy helping others with simple tasks.
- Able to verbalizes toilet needs and maybe able to be toilet trained during the day.

Range of Preschool Activities

Your child will be engaged on a range of daily activities that will not only build their motor skills, independence, social skills but also their knowledge of the world around them and how they react to it. For example: students will use playdough to build sculptures, use blocks and magnets to build towers and other structures. Take nature walks, hunt for objects and colors in their surroundings. Solve problems by using puzzles and ask and answer questions for clarity or curiosity and look at photos of family and talk about the things they care about.

Physical and Motion Development

• Climbs and runs well, while maintaining balance.
• Walks up and down stairs by themself, with one foot before the other.
• Jumps with both feet and may hop on one foot.
• Pedals tricycle and steer in desired direction.
• Can use spoon/fork well and able to feed themself.
• Dresses and undresses themselves.
• Stacks 10 or more blocks to build structure and play pretend.
Preschoolers feel safer and more secure when they have a predictable and consistent schedule. Daily routines allow the children to be comfortable to explore freely within the classroom. . This will build social and emotional skills such as self-confidence and independence allowing them to actively engage in activities. Our teachers guide your child through activities inspired by our Character Essentials curriculum that build upon positive character traits, like responsibility, leadership, empathy and forming healthy relationships.
